In 1989, a gallon of gas cost 97 cents. The average
US income was $27,500 and the Dow Jones closed
at 2753. It’s remarkable how time really
does fly. And how things do change, yet curiously
remain the same. We opened on a shoestring budget,
with one treadmill we bought on a Mastercard.
But we were devoted to our members and we attended
to your needs. And you were loyal to us –
you still are.
Today we have grown to one of the largest fitness
companies in the region, still owned by us and
our staff. We remain convinced that we have the
best staff of any health club in the world and
that we appreciate our members more than anyone.
This is a big year for us. Twenty years is an
important milestone for any small business and
we’re happy not only to have survived but
to be growing in a tough business and in a tough
time. Over the next 12 months you can expect new
equipment and programs at some of the clubs, exciting
20th Anniversary events and as always, our commitment
to you, our loyal members.
